Children notice a different version of a place. A low wall becomes a seat. A long walk needs a pause. A quiet corner can change the whole visit.
We bring a child and family perspective to practical spatial decisions — alongside the needs of owners, operators and design teams.
Can a child and caregiver get where they need to go, comfortably and intuitively?
Is there somewhere to rest, watch, regroup or spend time together?
What invites curiosity, choice and play beyond designated play equipment?
Whose experience is missing from the project brief?
No need to choose a package first. We’ll discuss what would move your project forward, then agree the scope, deliverables and fees.

Explore how an existing place works through a site walk, photographs or a focused spatial review.
Bring a child and family lens to a concept, layout or brief, alongside your existing team.
Explore whether a listening session or participatory activity could inform a real project decision.
These are possible ways to help. The scope depends on your site, project and the decisions you need to make.

Park Design Lab hosts occasional workshops where children take part in spatial design. They explore how places work, imagine what could be different, and turn their ideas into drawings and models.

Children as participants in design. From a favourite play spot to a shared neighbourhood space, the starting point is children’s own experience. These workshops make room for their observations, imagination and ideas.
